Music Teacher

Casa de las Estrellas is seeking a part-time Music Teacher to join our teaching team and accompany students from Grades 1 through 6. The ideal candidate brings an artistic presence, pedagogical sensitivity, and a strong commitment to the holistic development of children. They are able to inspire a love of music through experience, creativity, and conscious work.

This role plays a vital part in the artistic and community life of the school, offering lively music classes, organizing ensembles and choirs, and accompanying the rhythms and celebrations of the school year through the lens of Waldorf pedagogy.


About the Role

  • The Music Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering music lessons aligned with the developmental stage of each class, teaching music theory, singing, and instrumental practice, while fostering artistic expression and collaborative work.

    Their role extends beyond the classroom to include organizing performances, festivals, and school events, serving as a key figure in nurturing the cultural and spiritual atmosphere of the school.

  • In addition to regular classes, the teacher will participate in pedagogical meetings, student assessments, community events, and professional development opportunities.


Who We’re Looking For

Has experience as a music teacher, preferably in Waldorf or similar educational settings.

  • Holds a university degree in Music Education.

  • Has training in Waldorf pedagogy (in progress or with a strong interest and commitment to pursue it).

  • Is skilled in vocal and instrumental techniques and can work with children of various ages.

  • Can create dynamic and artistic lesson plans tailored to the group’s needs.

  • Possesses classroom management skills, clear communication, and teamwork abilities.

  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a deep interest in each child's development.

  • Is bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred).

  • Embodies personal qualities such as creativity, calm presence, enthusiasm, and responsibility.


Core Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a music program aligned with Waldorf educational principles.

  • Teach music theory, singing, and instrumental practice, integrating movement and artistic expression.

  • Direct school ensembles, choirs, and musical performances, especially for festivals and celebrations.

  • Evaluate students' musical development through observation, projects, and performances.

  • Actively participate in team meetings, community events, and school activities.

  • Contribute to the school’s cultural life and collaborate with other teachers on interdisciplinary projects.

  • Attend workshops, training, and ongoing professional development in music and Waldorf education.


Compensation & Professional Development

  • This is an hourly position, as is customary for specialty subject teachers

  • Compensation is commensurate with experience and based on the current salary structure

  • Salary recognition of up to 30% based on academic degrees, Waldorf training, and seniority
