English Teacher (2026-2027)
At Casa de las Estrellas, we approach language learning as a living, human experience - one that unfolds through relationship, rhythm, and joy. In the Waldorf classroom, English is not simply taught; it is experienced through movement, song, story, and meaningful connection.
We are seeking an English Teacher who can bring the language to life in this way, meeting students with both pedagogical clarity and artistic creativity. This role calls for a teacher who can create an immersive and engaging language environment, where students develop not only skills, but also confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love for language.
Our approach is rooted in Waldorf education, where learning is carried through the arts and through developmentally appropriate methods. The teacher we seek will feel at home working in this way: teaching English through storytelling, conversation, games, and movement, while attuning to the developmental stage of each child.
At the same time, we are actively exploring a path toward greater English fluency for all of our students, both for native speakers and for those for whom English is a second language. In this way, our school holds a unique opportunity.
We are currently engaged in a thoughtful design process to determine how best to equip ourselves to meet the full range of language learners, in service of our students’ future. The teacher stepping into this role will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to this evolving work.
At the same time, we recognize the importance of appropriately challenging students who are already native English speakers. We are committed to supporting our upper primary students in developing depth, precision, and confidence in grammar, writing, and language arts, so that they are well prepared to meet the next steps of their education, whether in English or Spanish.
We are looking for a teacher who brings:
Waldorf training (completed or in progress), or a genuine interest supported by further study
A degree in teaching or a related field
At least 3 years of teaching experience
Native or near-native English proficiency (C2 level)
Fluency in Spanish
Experience integrating arts, movement, and creativity into language learning
A strong foundation in English grammar and language arts, with the ability to support students in developing clarity, richness, and precision in their expression
This role calls for someone who can:
Hold a class with warmth and clarity, creating a safe and engaging learning environment
Build meaningful relationships with students and their families
Bring rhythm and structure to lessons while maintaining flexibility and responsiveness
Collaborate with colleagues in a spirit of shared purpose and ongoing learning
We are a growing, evolving school in Nosara, Costa Rica, rooted in community and guided by a shared commitment to the healthy development of each child. Living and working here invites both adaptability and a deep appreciation for place.
We welcome teachers who are inspired to contribute to a school culture that values creativity, responsibility, collaboration, and care.
